“ | “This giant species of spider inhabits the deepest areas of forests. It attacks with highly adhesive webbing in order to prevent its prey from escaping. It has a tough outer carapace, but its stomach may be vulnerable to attack.” |
— Fi, Skyward Sword |
This eight-legged monstrosity is the size of an adult hylian. Its hardened, armor-like exoskeleton bears an infamous resemblance to a human skull.
Although these monsters can lay web traps like common spiders, their size and strength is often put to use actively seeking out prey instead—and will predate on just about anything. They are unusually skilled at conventional combat, and some have even been known to block sword strikes. Far from mere bites, skulltulas have been known to attack with slams, web shots, and even kicks.
They favor areas of darkness, and tend to be most abundant in forests or other areas of heavy vegetation. Although skulltulas typically hunt alone, they are almost always found in the vicinity of other skulltulas. If you found one, there are likely a dozen or more hiding somewhere nearby.
Environment: Caves, Forest, Hills, Ruins
