Tektites are spider-like quadruped beasts wrapped in a lightweight but sturdy exoskeleton. Renowned for their mobility, these monsters leap huge distances as their primary form of locomotion, as well as attack and defense. They can climb mountains with ease, and some can even leap across the surface of water.
Simple Carnivores. Despite their otherworldly appearance, tektites are beasts that usually act on basic instincts. Each tektite has a simple face consisting of one monstrous eye and a pair of small fangs. Carnivores by nature, a tektite typically subdues prey by recklessly leaping atop it with the intend of breaking bones or otherwise incapacitating the creature. Once felled, the tektite will gentle nibble the prey until filled—sometimes even while the hapless victim yet lives. Tektites will recklessly attack almost any creature that gets too close, and will often work together to attempt to take down prey. Only when they are dwarfed in size do tektites hesitate.
Versatile Habitation. Tektites travel far and wide to many different biomes, and their powerful legs can handle any terrain. Lakes, swamps, mountains, deserts, caverns, ruins, and more are home to these hunters.
Life Cycle. There are few obvious differences between male and female tektites, but they reproduce sexually. As many as a hundred eggs are laid at once, and usually are only placed in a region that is difficult to reach even for tektites. A tektite is completely autonomous when born, with no parental dependence, and can reach maturity in only a few months.
