A stroke of lightning tears out of your mouth or hands, forming a line from you that is 30 feet long and 10 feet wide. Each creature in the line must make Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 damage and is paralyzed until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't paralyzed. Any creature that isn't entirely within the line has advantage on its saving throw. Any creature that reduces or resists the lightning damage taken isn't paralyzed.
Upcast. You can upcast this spell by expending extra magic points when you cast it. For each extra point expended, the damage increases by 1d6, and the line's length increases by 20 feet.
