Ambusher. The aeralfos has advantage on attack rolls targeting any creature that has yet to have a turn in this combat.

Evasion. When the aeralfos is subjected to an effect that allows a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage on a success, and only half damage if it fails.

Flyby. While it is flying, the aeralfos's movement doesn't provoke reactions.

Actions

Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.

Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage.

Clawshot. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 50 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it must succeed on a DC 11 Strength save or be pulled up to the aeralfos' altitude (up to 50 feet), then fall, taking 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet fallen (maximum 5d6) and land prone.

Reactions

Deflect. The aeralfos adds 2 to its AC against one ranged attack that would hit it. To do so, the aeralfos must see the attacker and be wielding a shield.

“Take a good look at his shield! When he holds it up, that's your chance! When he's holding his shield up, your arrows will just bounce off...but that's exactly the chance you need! If your timing is right, you could use it to pull him down.”
Midna, Twilight Princess

Though indistinguishable in appearance to a common aeralfos, a cunning aeralfos is remarkably sharper than most of its kin—especially when it comes to combat tactics. One typically snipes enemies from high in the sky, well out of the attack range of even seasoned adventurers. One is difficult to thwart without cover. Even if the going gets rough, a cunning aeralfos will easily flee from most pursuers.
     Environment: Hills, Ruins, Sky
