Choose a humanoid or beast that you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed for the duration. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the spell ends on the target.
Upcast. You can upcast this spell by expending extra magic points when you cast it. For every extra point you expend beyond 3, you can target one additional humanoid or beast. When targeting multiple creatures, the creatures must all be within 30 feet of you and each other when you target them.
If you expend 7 points instead of the initial 3, you may instead target one creature of any type, and can target one additional creature for each point you expend beyond 7.

If cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you may instead target one creature of any type instead of only humanoid, and can target one additional creature for each spell slot level above 5th.
