Sword spirits are an extremely rare race of constructs born of ancient, powerful, and long-forgotten magic.
Character details
Alignment. Sword spirits usually hold a strong sense of duty, and thus tend towards law.
Age. Sword spirits are created through magical means and do not truly age, nor do they even rust. One could hypothetically live for thousands of years, but may only remember the past few decades in meaningful detail.
Diet. As a construct, you have no need for food and water. Some activities may drain or replenish your energy, and even exhaust you, but you can persist for hundreds of years without any sustenance.
Names. Due to their arcane nature, an sword spirit often has name which has meaning in the Ancient language. This name was likely bestowed by whatever long-forgotten being or beings created the sword spirit.

Character traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2.
Size. A typical sword spirit is about 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Construct Nature. You have no need for air, food, or water. Although you can persist without sleep, you must still rest to gain the benefits of rest. You do not age, and are immune to any magical effect that would cause you to age.
Sword Form. Choose one type of melee weapon. At the start of your turn, you can instantly transform into that weapon, or transform back to your humanoid form. You retain all statistics and senses in this form, retain the ability to speak, can cast spells, and can use all features which do not require a specific form. You also gain a flying speed of 20 feet while in this form, but cannot use this speed to ascend. If a creature wields you in your sword form, you can use your reaction to deal 2d8 force damage to that creature. If you willingly allow a creature to wield you as a sword, it adds half your proficiency bonus to attack and damage rolls it makes with you; the creature uses your Strength or Dexterity with damage rolls with you if your relevant score is higher than the creature's.
