Standing Leap. The tektite can jump a length or height of up to 30 feet, with or without a running start. These jumps can avoid most forms of difficult terrain.

Actions

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d8 + 1) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

“These spidery things jump about all over the place. Red ones move about a lot and blue ones move only a little. Tektites have little fighting power.”
The Legend of Zelda manual

These four-limbed, one-eyed carnivorous insects are aggressive hunters. Tektites usually hunt in groups of three to eight. Tektite packs have an odd tactic: they leap great distances, then body slam their hard underbellies and legs into the prey with the intention of breaking bones and preventing escape. Once a foe is sufficiently unable to resist, a tektite slowly devours the disabled prey in nibbling bites, often while the victim is still alive.
Red varieties often inhabit rough terrain like volcanoes, mountains, and deserts were food is scarce. Because food is relatively slim in these locations, they often don't grow to the size and strength of otherwise comparable blue tektites.
Environment: Arctic, Caves, Coastal, Desert, Forest, Grassland, Hills, Lake, Ruins, Sea, Volcanic
