Comparisons to Canon
The Hyrule Compendium assumes a much larger and more realistic world than has been possible to fully portray in any canonical Zelda title to date. In Breath of the Wild, about 60 square kilomters of Hyrule can be explored on foot, and there are at most a few thousand light worlders populating it. The Compendium's version of the Hyrulean continent is about 1 million square kilometers with a population of over 1 million, which is comparable to a real-world modern country with above-average area but exceptionally low population density. That isn't even including other continents, the Great Sea, or unusual areas like Skyloft and Subrosia.
