Breastplate (item)

A breastplate consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although this armor leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, it provides excellent protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
You must have proficiency with medium armor to wear a breastplate proficiently. If you wear armor that you lack proficiency with, you have disadvantage on any ability check, saving throw, or attack roll that involves Strength or Dexterity, and you can't cast spells.
