“ | “These hard-shelled beetles crawl slowly across the ground in deeper dungeons. That is, until Link steps near. Seemingly by instinct alone, they will turn and charge toward him at an impressive clip.” |

A heavily-armored beetle the size of a housecat, the lowder eeks out a living in arid deserts and rocky caverns too inhabitable for most other beasts. It can make a meal out of almost anything, from decaying moss to hylian flesh. Seemingly always hungry, lowders are known to take a mad dash at any potential prey which wander into their tremorsense—even at those several times their size. Lowders are at their most deadly in dank, dark caves.
They appear to be related to the more powerful, magical, scorpion-like aru lowders with whom they often live. Some researchers speculate the two creatures might even be dimorphic examples of the same species.
