Simple trap (level 5-10, moderate threat)
A seemingly harmless treasure chest hidden away in a dungeon contains an unpleasant, ice-cold surprise.
Trigger. A creature that opens or destroys the chest triggers it.
Effect. Naydra's blast (DC 15) is cast directly in front of the chest's forward face, and the wispy sound of a freezard's yell roars out from the chest. This yell is audible to at least 100 feet.
Countermeasures. A successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check reveals the chest to be unusually cold to the touch, but not that the chest is inherently a trap. Use of detect magic or other spell-detecting features reveal the presence of Naydra's blast. The trap can be avoided simply by not opening the chest, by opening from the side, or by opening it from behind.
