“ | “A small toadpole spawned by the deku toad. [...] They swim rapidly toward Link, slamming into him in groups to get in his way.” |
— Encyclopedia |
This bulbous tadpole is about the size of a housecat. Its body is mostly navy blue, with a pale underbelly, bright purple lips, and beady crimson eyes. A toado is normally found in the habitat of its mother, the imposing deku toad, who hatches them from bulbous wet eggs. Their feeble ramming attacks—usually in swarms—are meant to defend her from potential threats. Though amphibious, they have yet to develop legs and thus prefer to swim.
Relatively few survive to adulthood, but those who do grow into toadpoli—or in the right environment, the rare fire toadpoli. The exceptional female may even grow into a deku toad in her own right after many years.
Environment: Lake
