Scale mail consists of a coat and leggings, and perhaps a separate skirt, of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal much like the scales of a fish. This armor includes gauntlets.
     You must have proficiency with medium armor to wear scale mail proficiently. If you wear armor that you lack proficiency with, you have disadvantage on any ability check, saving throw, or attack roll that involves Strength or Dexterity, and you can't cast spells.
     Anyone wearing scale mail has disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to move quietly.
